The dwarf pomegranate tree (Punica granatum Nana) is a subtropical deciduous tree that usually grows to only 2 feet tall and wide. It produces orange-red single blossoms in late spring or early summer followed by bright orange-red pomegranate fruit. The Nana variety is considered to be the dwarf pomegranate, growing to a mature height between 3 and 4 feet. It is ideal for use in landscape hedges, containers, and bonsai gardening. Trees can produce fruit in second year under favorable conditions.
Soak seeds in water for 24 hours then press into soil. They need light to germinate. Keep moist until germination. Hardy to zone USDA zone 7, but will not bear fruit unless it is brought inside in areas that experience temperatures below 40 degrees F in winter.
